Over billions of years the moon has been pelted with untold amounts of asteroids. Every time there’s contact, almost all of the water contained in the asteroid evaporates and turns into Hydroxyl (OH). According to studies at the University of Texas, ony around 3% of the water remains and is usually sent into the Moon’s atmosphere as water vapour. Some of it could even end up reforming as ice water in one of the Moon’s South Pole craters…
