The most famous example is probably Subutai, son of a blacksmith and eventual Chief Military Strategist. Quite the promotion! Today he is regarded as one of history’s greatest generals, conquering more territory than any other military commander. Temujin was also fairer with the spoils of war, splitting iany booty equally amongst all his men, and himself. The same opportunities and same rewards, no matter your background? Sounds like the Mongol Dream!
